Southern Interior Flood Recovery – Travel Advisories

Extensive flooding in the Southern Interior Region has caused some road closures. Crews are working to restore impacted sites across the region. For up to the minute information on road conditions and additional information, check DriveBC.

Chute Lake Road near Naramata City of Penticton 2 large culverts near Chute Lake Resort capacity exceeded and washed out, road washed out at several other locations. Maintenance contractor closed road. Currently installing culverts, rip rap and repairing shoulder base. Road closed.
Relkey Road Summerland Road washed out at culvert. Maintenance contractor has delineated failure area until repairs can be affected. Road closed. Alternate access is available.

Morgan Bridge on Heywood-Armstrong Rd 100m of Salmon River Rd Armstrong Needs assessment, lost 4 piles.
Bridge needs replacing.
Equipment onsite to remove debris.
Bridge closed.

Service Area #14 Nicola – Thompson Nicola District

Mill Creek Road Merritt Approximately 1 km of road is washed out. Geotechnical engineers have assessed the site. Water continues to prevent crews from beginning work. TNRD is working with private land owners to access Mill Creek Rd. Closed.
Marshall Road Merritt Bridge is washed out. Crews are recovering the structure from the channel Closed. Residents beyond the bridge are using forest service road to access their properties.

Greenstone Mountain Rd Kamloops Water currently flowing over road. Lost 60% of road surface. Maintenance contractor has closed the road and continues to monitor.

Rodeo Drive Kamloops Road is washed out. MoTI and TNRD negotiated local resident access with land owner. Geotechnical and hydrotechnical assessments are underway. Closed. Provisions available for local and emergency traffic.
Deadman Cache Creek Rd Savona Clemes Creek (4 km from junction with Deadman Vidette Washed out. Closed. Maintenance contractor has confirmed access via Battle Creek forest service road.
Robins Range Road Kamloops Water is currently flowing over the road and within the ditches. Monitoring for water to subside. Closed.
Campbell Creek Road Kamloops Shoulder erosion in multiple locations. Road washed out 10 km northeast of Highway 5A. Maintenance contractor monitoring and protecting road from further erosion. Closed.
Yates Creek (Cold Creek Road) Kamloops Washed out. Maintenance contractor on site. Closed.
Tranquille Criss Creek Rd. Kamloops Washed out at km 28, Sylvestre Forest Service Road. Hydrologist’s assessment underway. Road Closed.
Long Lake Road Road closed. 8km past Weir Road.

Service Area #16, 17 & 18 Cariboo – Cariboo District

#409 Back Valley Road Cache Creek Severe flooding from the Cache Creek onto multiple areas. Multiple sections of road washed out. Highway closed to traffic from junction with Highway 1 to the Service Area boundary. Heavy equipment operating to reduce flooding and redirect drainage into the creek.
Gas line has been shut down in the affected area.
Ongoing monitoring. Inspection planned May 13.
Road closed.
