Bike to Work Week – Get on Your Bike and Ride

Two-wheeled commuters will be cycling to work May 30 to June 5, across British Columbia.

Bike to Work Week is an annual event, led by a non-profit group, which encourages and promotes cycling as an alternate form of transportation. This year, more than 22 communities are involved, from Prince Rupert to Penticton.

In each community, teams have been forming to track participation, celebrate cycling and spread the word about the benefits of bicycling. Prizes and fun are part of the event, with cyclists rendezvousing to enjoy a snack at designated celebration stations. Training on cycling skills and basic maintenance is offered in some communities. The commuter challenge, a popular event, pits a cyclist against a motorist to see who clocks in at work first.

If you’re a motorist, then watch for extra bicycle traffic.
